He wants to belittle me. He finds himself virtually her prisoner, marooned without a car, money, or a place of his own. She is dressed in black house pajamas and black high-heeled pumps. Joe, the leading actor in the film, also clearly depicts the character of a successful, but weak persona who is easily manipulated despite being wealthy. The characters’ feelings about their environment accelerates the story:  Betty’s dissatisfied with being stuck in the readers’ department, and nags Joe into working with her on his story, which motivates him to sneak out of Norma’s house, nights. . Norma focuses exclusively on her acting talent and loses touch with reality. The different lighting intensities were used where appropriate to help in conveying the appropriate message. The movie then progresses with the events that took place around six months before the occurrence of Joe’s death accounting and giving details of what transpired that led to Joe’s sudden death. At the end of the movie, the flashback ends, and reporters including police officers are seen wondering around the scene of incident looking for evidence. The objective characters focus on their abilities to achieve success in Hollywood. Betty knows she’s a lowly script reader and will continue to stay one if she doesn’t promote herself with a good spec.
